State of the ARC – February 2019

This meme and header image were created by Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books

I thought it was about time I started doing this since I’ve been getting more and more ARCs requests approved, and I’ve been getting review requests from publishers. It’d be nice to see for myself what I’ve been doing with my ARCs!

So here goes, I put all my data in excel and abracadabra’d this graph! woo!

Most of my ARCs are from surprise surprise Netgalley! I’ve been getting approved more and more, and one publisher actually autoapproved me, that feel so good. This year I started with a blank slate, I finished all my ARCs from 2018 in 2018, so I knew that everything I requested later was for this year.

I also got approved for a book on Edelweiss! That’s really a first, I haven’t done much on Edelweiss and just started requesting ARCs that seemed interesting to get a feel for the website. It’s not a huge book, but at least I’m making progress!

I’ve read quite a few ARCs already, I just haven’t had the time to write up reviews, I did on Netgalley, I’m just nog sure if I should post them on my blog (thoughts??)

So after getting approved for so many ARCs, I put myself on a ban. Then #reviewpit happened and I just kind of requested to review 4 books. It could have been so much worse I swear!!

Up until today, I’ve had a total of 22 ARCs, below are the ones I haven’t read yet, and the ones I’ve read and might post a review on my blog (some of them are definitely coming!)

Unread ARCs:
Proud
In at the Deep End
The A-Z of Gender and Sexuality: from ace to ze
Bone Diggers
Chasing Eveline
Imminent Dawn
Robbergirl
Descendant of the Crane
To Best the Boys
The Year After You
The Iliad
She Spoke
Stronger, Faster, and More Beautiful
When Summer Ends
The Quick and Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities

Read ARCs:
Ripley’s Believe it or Not
The mermaid’s voice returns in this one
Felyn’s Curse
Brotherhood of Shades
More than Bones
The Princess and the Fangirl
Crow Flight

And having read these ARCs give me the opportunity to add them to my State of the ARC Bingo! This is the first time I’m participating and I’m very excited. I haven’t added all of my books, I’m sure I could add more, but let’s just wait and see what will happen.

I’ve got quite a road ahead, but at least I’m making progress.. if I don’t keep requesting books that is.. Oh well, I’ll manage somehow! Have you read any ARCs that you’re really excited about, or did you see some I’ve read or planning to read you’re curious about?

Until next time,
Michelle

YAY for your first Edelweiss approval! And you seem to be doing pretty well with your ARCs, especially if you manage to not request more for awhile. Good on you for starting 2019 with a clean slate – I have a handful of pastdue ones still, oops.

I was doing so well, but since the start of this month I haven’t had time to read a lot, so hoping I’ll have more time to read soon. Do we need to put you on a requestban aswell so you can finish those pastdue ARCs? 😉

Ooooo I mean you could put them on your blog if you wanted, it’s your blog after all. Wheeee for getting an autoapproval, can’t wait to see what your bingo sheet looks like next month hehe.

I forgot to say! I would put reviews from NetGalley on my blog, I mean I do, I just kind of expand on them or do a whole different one based off it…also, if I find there’s too many, I just kind of did mini-reviews of like three of them together last month and I plan on doing that again with how many I have to read.

*Also on a ban after Review Pit and a day of NetGalley approvals*

Awesome for getting auto approved on NetGalley!! That’s so great!! YAY!

    AND

YAY for an approval on Edelweiss!!! How Exciting! Those people are hard to get approvals out of if you ask me, so, super impressive! Thank you for reminding me I forgot to fill out my State of the Arc bingo sheet as I read your post lol, anyway I wish you best of lucks with your ARCs!!!

yay for pie charts!! they’re the yummiest way to look at stats 😜 congrats on your Netgalley autoapproval and your first Edelweiss approval, that’s so exciting and awesome 🎉 (and also dangerous… 👀) I’m in the same “I was on a ban but #ReviewPit happened” boat too, so I totally feel your struggle 😅 (and yes, it could definitely be worse – at last count, I had 9 or 10 books from there!) also, so so so exited to read Descendant of the Crane with y’all, I hear we’re in for quite A Time.

as for posting reviews … I have so many to get through that it just doesn’t make sense to post them all on my blog because I don’t want to spend that much time formatting for such little reward (but then again, I’ve always written reviews mostly for myself, so Goodreads is enough for me); but reviews are also a good source of ready content to have on hand, and I do love being able to shout about less-hyped books that I loved and think everyone else should read too. so I personally wouldn’t post them all, just the ones you feel most strongly about (whether positive or negative) – and you can always save the rest for reading/blogging slumps 😉
