When I started blogging, I met two amazing, kind, talented people, Sam and Clo. Seperately, they are crazy talented, extremely funny and a smidge weird. When they work together, there is no stopping them.
They created Bookend Events, where every quarter of the year they bring the bookish community a new event, bring everyone closer together and give us the opportunity to meet new blogs and friends! This April, yes TOMORROW!, will mark the start of Bookending Spring 2019!
So just to break this event down, here is an explanation:
What is it?
Bookending Spring is one of the quarterly events, running under the umbrella term “Bookend Events”, aspiring to bring the book blogging community closer together! Bookending Spring has a vague theme of Organization and Cleaning, but you DO NOT need to stick to this theme at all!
- Posting a minimum of 3 blog posts (you can use the prompts or not, up to you)
- Taking part in the Tidyathon
Now, you don’t have to do ALL of them. You can do one or both. It’s totally up to you.
- Book reviews don’t count as part of the event – but you’re more than welcome to still post them throughout the month. Just remember they won’t count as part of your 3 posts
- Not restricted to a theme/topic – you can post about whatever you want, however, we do encourage discussion posts and/or creative post types to branch out and have fun!
- General Topic Ideas: Discussion Posts, Tags/Awards, Memes, Writing Themed Posts, Blogging Themed Posts etc.
- You MUST include the Bookend Events logo somewhere on/within your post, this is so we know which posts are part of the event/got inspired through the event. It also helps us with blog hopping.
There will be 9 hosts in this event, all posting amazing things. Personally, I can’t wait to see their posts! Here is a breakdown of what each host will write about
Jayati @ It’s Just A Coffee Addicted Bibliophile will be hosting from April 1st to April 3rd and will feature posts about spring releases, keeping track of your blog and will share tips on buying an optimal number of books (I for one am really going to need those tips, my TBR is going crazy)
AJ @ For The Love of Diversity in Books will be hosting from April 4th to April 7th and is going to do the Marie Kondo Challenge! I’m super excited what 30 books will be saved. Then AJ will share a TBR for spring (all the books!), amazing spreadsheets and a How To Guide on making graphics. Well, I’m super excited!
Theresa @ The Calico Books will be hosting from April 8th to April 10th and we’re going to get an Easter Time Book Tag! Also spring related books and spring bookshelf decor!
Charvi @ Not Just Fiction will be hosting from April 11th to April 14th and will be talking about using social media accounts, Type A personality characters, whether being unorganized is a good thing (or not!) and how to pair reading with studying.
Clo @ Book Dragons will be hosting herself too! She’ll be posting from April 15th to April 17th and will be talking about Blog Life (and she’ll be sharing her blog plans for the future wooooooo, to understand my excitement, please refer back to the partytime gif hehe), she’ll share books and series she’d wish she could read again for the first time and films and tv shows that would definitely be better as books.
While I love Sam and Clo to death, and I would definitely be boosting the heck out of this event, I’m doing this for a reason too. I’m a host! I’ll be hosting from April 18th to April 21st. My posts will cover a couple of benefits of buying physical books, what to do when you bought too many books, different ways to sort your bookcase, and what 5 books to save when you’re house is burning down *queue the anxiety am I right* No need to worry, my house isn’t actually burning down 🙂
Then Haley @ The Caffeinated Reader will host from April 22nd to April 24th and will talk about the heartwrenching decision to let go of books you’ll never read (again), what bookish resources libraries have and what the advantages of lending books and books swaps are (definitely excited for this!)
Amanda @ Between The Shelves will be hosting from April 25th to April 28th and will cover audiobooks to listen to while spring cleaning, how you can upcycle old books, we get a spring cleaning tag guys!! and! Amanda will recommend spring book club titles!
Then to close the event, Sam @Fictionally Sam will be hosting from April 29th to April 30th. She’ll give us a productivity tag (you guys, I’m loving the tags here, this is goign to be so much fun!), and books to (not) to read during finals week (damn I’m glad I’m not studying anymore because these recommendations will keep me distracted forever).
More information regarding the host prompts can be found on this post. So how do you sign up? CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT THE SIGN UP FORM!!!!!! Easy peasy right! Now there are some rules to using our prompts:
- MUST link back to the original prompt
- Prompts can be posted AFTER the Hosts prompt date, but NOT BEFORE e.g you want to do Charvi’s prompt which goes up on the 13th. You can post it on the 13th and after that date but not before the 13th
So no posting a prompt before the host does!
A great way to boost this and your own posts if you choose to participate, is to share it on twitter! You can tag Bookend Events twitter account: @bookend_events in any posts you do towards the event so everyone can see them and participants can bloghop to one another. Make sure to tag the tweets with #BEspring2019 so everyone can see what tweets are being published! There are also going to be some Twitter chats! So make sure to use the hashtag and @ everyone!
