#Pridelibrary19 – Carry On & Wayward Son

This month I’m teaming up with Anniek @ Anniek’s Library and Hâf @ The Library Looter for our #PrideLibrary19 challenge! Today’s prompt is Yellow Books and I have to admit, I don’t own that many yellow LGBTQ+ books. But the one I do own is a book I really love. It’s Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, if you haven’t heard about it, here’s the synopsis:

Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who’s ever been chosen.

That’s what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he’s probably right.

Half the time, Simon can’t even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor’s avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there’s a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon’s face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it’s their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon’s infuriating nemesis didn’t even bother to show up.

The spine is yellow too – hence me deciding this is a yellow book.

Okay this is creepy. As I started formatting this post for PrideLibrary – about Carry On and the next book, Wayward Sons – I got an email from Amazon about Carry On :’) I’m not lying, you can check the image below!

So this book is about Simon, who is a confused little shit, dealing with even more shit including an annoying roommate. On top of that he’s the ‘Chosen One’. Whatever that might mean to him.

If you read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, you already know Simon, since Cath writes Simon Snow fanfiction. However, if you were expecting the same story.. you thought wrong. I personally didn’t really now what to expect, but I really loved it. I don’t think it matters whether you readd Carry On of Fangirl first, though you might understand Cath’s obsession with Simon Snow (and Baz) better if you read Carry On first.

Since this is a post during Pride Month, we all know there is queer love in this book. If you ever had any doubts about this book, I sure hope they’re gone now. Just look at these precious babies

There are flaws with the story though, but I’ll be talking about those later this month. It’s a post I’ve been thinking about for a long time and I really hope I’m doing it right, but I’m really excited overall, so I hope you are too!

The reason I’m writing this post and trying to get all of you excited, there’s a new book coming out! It’s called Wayward Son (anyone getting Supernatural vibes now? No? Look at this, it plays at the beginning of the last episode of every season and it’s heartbreaking), and it’ll be out THIS YEAR! October 3rd, and the cover is ah-mah-zing

Here’s the synopsis:

The story is supposed to be over.

Simon Snow did everything he was supposed to do. He beat the villain. He won the war. He even fell in love. Now comes the good part, right? Now comes the happily ever after…

So why can’t Simon Snow get off the couch?

What he needs, according to his best friend, is a change of scenery. He just needs to see himself in a new light…

That’s how Simon and Penny and Baz end up in a vintage convertible, tearing across the American West.

They find trouble, of course. (Dragons, vampires, skunk-headed things with shotguns.) And they get lost. They get so lost, they start to wonder whether they ever knew where they were headed in the first place…

I am so excited to see what this bunch is going to do! There better be a lot of dragons and a lot of queerness. It comes out in October, but I’m really hoping there will be some eARCs on NetGalley so I can read it before then, because I’m really excited!

How about you? Have you read Carry on or Fangirl? What did you think if you’ve read one or both. And are you as excited as I am for Wayward Son?

Until next time,

Could it be October already? I’ve only read few lqbt+ books but Carry On is still my favorite. I can’t wait for the next book and they better not ruin my babies. I wasn’t even going to read the first book since I found those fanfiction parts n Fangirl so boring but thankfully I did!

I love Rainbow Rowell’s books. I have had Carry On on my TBR for awhile now – I need to get to it!

I absolutely loved Fangirl as well as Carry On and I’m soooo excited for this book!
Honestly, I am expecting too much out of it and I think I will end up being disappointed but Rainbow Rowell is awesome so I think I’m pretty safe with my expectations over here!
And yes, eARCs for this book will be amazing but I don’t think I’d be able to get them anyway because of my location. *sighs*
But I hope you can get it and love it!

Yeah there are a few books of Rainbow I don’t like that much :’) BUT! I’m really really hoping this will be amazing! Do you have NetGalley? Because I’m not in a very important country either, publicity wise, so you might have some luck aswell 🙂

I do have netgalley but I can only wish for a lot of book since they are not really available in my region :/
Oh, well stupid publicity that focuses mostly on USA 😥
