BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS

It’s already August.. The year is going by so fast, it’s kind of annoying, but it does mean we get more and more books (and more and more books on our TBRs..). But I’m only responsible for my own TBR so oif all of you want to add to your own TBRs, so be it. But don’t come knocking on my door when it crushes you.

A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying by Kelley Armstrong

I remember reading Armstrongs earlier books when I was younger. I was actually surprised to see she was also writing MG books! So this book is about the twelve year old Rowan who will someday become queen, while her twinbroter Rhydd will become the Royal Monster Hunter. Due to unforseen circumstances, Rowan is eventually hunting a dangerous gryphon. I have no idea if this book will be something for me, but it sounds really cute!

A Royal Guide to Monster Slaying is out on August 6th.

Enchancted Ever After (#9) by Shanna Swendson

Wow. I had no idea this series was still going on! I read this years ago and recently started this again. It’s a really fun series. It’s like.. the series started a long time ago and it’s still written in that style and it’s really cool to see the differences between Fantasy that’s published nowadays. To see that stories don’t have the be incredibly complicated to be really fun. It’s a chicklit with fantasy parts.

Enchanted Ever After is out August 6th.

House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig

Yay, more Fantasy! A family that’s curses. One daughter that is disturbed by a series of ghostly visions making Annaleigh believe that her sisters death were no accidents. The sysnopsis of this book sets up an atmosphere that I can’t wait to dive into. And also, it’s a standalone, so I won’t be roped into reading an entire series meaning I don’t have to wait years to finish said series.

House of Salt and Shadows is out August 6th.

Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks

I couldn’t make this post without adding at least one graphic novel. And while not all of Rowell’s previous books made it onto my loved book lists, this one sounds amazing. So, it’s about Deja and Josiah who work together at the best pumpkin patch every autumn, all through high school. Except this year will be their last since they’re both seniors. So they make sure they’ll go out with a bang. The art looks really cute and if I’m honest, I am looking forward to another Rowell book before Wayward Son comes out.

Pumpkinheads is out August 27th.

Crown of Coral and Pearl by Mara Rutherford

Is it just me or are there a lot of new books with titles like ‘X of X and X’. I gues ACOTAR started a new trend. It doesn’t lessen the excitement I feel for this book though.. really, an ocean village with twin sisters, one of them has a permanent scar so she can’t marry the prince and then suddenly her twin is gravely injured?? And a cold prince, a cold kingdom (because it never sees the light of day), and MURDER. I’m hella excited!!

Crown of Coral and Pearl is out August 27th.

I decided not to go looking for a lot of boks because I’d only be adding more and more books to my own TBR, but to only add the ones I find interesting, or ones I’m really incredibly excited for. So I ended up with only five books. But do you think I’m missing a book? What are you really excited for? Let me know in the comments!
