Haha! I have bested the flu, and yet again the damn bug that prevented me from uploading (to be honest, I had a fever for a while and it didn’t make me want to find out what was going on anyway, so not posting is kind of on me aswell). So I know February is almost over, but it’s never too late to look at some great books you might have missed!
Malice by Pintip Dunn
This feels like a bit of a mystery novel, with maybe a deadly ending? The only thing I don’t like about this is that they end the summary with ‘the only boy I’ve ever loved’. sorry, but barf much? I truly hope this isn’t full of clichés, because that would really suck.
Malice is out February 4
The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa de la Cruz
This story starts with a male assassin, which makes me think that’s it’s kind of a genderbent Throne of Glass. And what do you know? There’s someone else who wants to become an assassin! And then the two are brought together and they need to work together to hunt down a threat. I know I sound very sarcastic, but this might actually be a fun fast read!
The Queen’s Assassin is out February 4
All the Stars and Teeth by Adalyn Grace
I just got this in a book box and daaaamn, I’m so excited! there’s ‘soul magic’. Honestly, I don’t really know what it is, but I personally think that’s better, leave the mystery and find out when you start reading! There are more types of magic too, so if soul magic doesn’t pull you in, I’m sure there will be something else.
All the Stars and Teeth is out February 4
Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed
I devour every book Becky writes and fall in love every time. This is a political kind of book, I honestly hope it’s not too much because even though I know it’s important, my Twitterfeed is full of American politics and it’s kind of annoying me. I don’t understand a thing, I don’t know if I should find out what everyone does, it’s not like I have any influence on it. Okay sorry, back to the book. Yes, Becky’s books are awesome and I really hope this one is authentic as her other ones. I hope it makes me feel.
Yes No Maybe So is out February 4
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood
I keep seeing this book! I didn’t know what it was about until a friend of mine mentioned it somewhere. So it’s about a town in Norway, and all the men drown, leaving only women. But you know, it’s the 1600s, and people love witchcraft, or accusing people of being witches.. Surprise, it’s also QUEER! I don’t really read historical novels, but this one really sounds awesome!
The Mercies is out February 6
Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon
This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I’m intrigued. Though it involves a kind of boardingschool and I always like things like that. Plus, there is a princess, and she doesn’t sound very nice at all. I’m very excited to read what that’s all about.
Of Curses and Kisses is out February 18
Ghost-Spider, Vol 1: Dog Days are Over by Seanan McGuire and Takeshi Miyazawa
I’m so excited for this one! I love all things Spider-Man, and een though I haven’t read much about Spider-Woman, Gwen Stacy has been a favourite of mine for a long time. So now she’s Ghost-Spider, and she has all these responsibilities (being on a different earth and all). And it’s written by Seanan McGuire, who we all know (I hope) from the Wayward Children series!
Ghost-Spider, Vol 1: Dog Days are Over is out February 18
The Hidden Girl and Other Stories by Ken Liu
I love short stories, they enable me to make my own ending, so whenever I see a new anothology, I jump on it. This is a science fiction and fantasy anthology and I have to say that the cover kind of looks like The Loneliest Girl in the Universe. That’s definitely a favorite of mine, so here’s hoping this one is good too!
The Hidden Girl and Other Stories is out February 25
The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller
Woo Girlpower! At least, that’s the first thought in my mind when I read the summary. The cover looks hella fire. I am assuming she ends up falling in love with the Shadow King, though she describes herself as a ‘cunning and villainous queen’, so maybe this is a villain story? What if she ends up becoming the villain, that would be so cooooool! Only one way to find out!
The Shadows between Us is out February 25
So that was it for this month, I’ve preordered a couple of these, some come in a book box and I have one of them as an e-arc, so plenty for me to read. Will you be reading any of these? Let me know in the comments!
